THE WRONG GUY WHO DID ALL THE RIGHT THINGS: THE FIRST DATE

RECAP: A girl had just taken an apartment on rent and just moved in there. She started to do all the unpacking while humming the melodious songs that her phone played. In the meanwhile, she suddenly heard a not-so-musical song of her window glass turning into pieces by a cricket ball. She was reluctant to give the ball to the boys who requested her continuously. She then inquired about who hit the ball, to which a handsome guy accepted that he has hit the ball. The guy apologized for his mistake and while he was taking the ball back, he introduced himself as “Varun”. The girl then spoke the first word of the conversation by introducing herself as “Reenu”.

“No, I am not at all feeling drowsy”, said Reenu on phone in her most sleepy voice.

She kept on humming something while almost asleep, with her arms wrapped around her teddy bear.

The clock on the wall displayed 3:30 am. And the person on the other side of the phone was none other than Varun

Early in the morning, the chirping of birds and the not-so-violent sun rays conjointly helped Reenu to get over her sleep and come into the real world. She woke up with a different feeling that morning. Nothing was the same; the sky appeared clearer, the birds sounded more melodious and the annoying sun rays were welcomed with opened arms near the window by Reenu.

She remembered how she spent the entire night yesterday talking to Varun. She was sure that she had fallen for him but what she doubted was whether he would catch her or not.

She looked at the clock, it showed 8 am. Immediately, she got ready and left for her office.

Reenu worked as an assistant designer at one of the biggest fashion houses in the city. She had a great salary and was an independent woman. Her life was just perfect; all she missed was a partner and then, that she had met Varun, she had all the plans to fill that void.

After finishing her office work, Reenu reached home at 7:00 pm. As she was about to open the door, her eyes caught notice of a parcel kept on the side of her door. She picked it up. It read “To dearest Reenu”

She opened the door, took it inside and kept the parcel on the table, she went to the kitchen to have some water for herself. She finally sat on the sofa to open the parcel.

To her great surprise, it was a dress with a little note stuck on it saying “Put this on and get ready for dinner at 9. I will pick you up”

She was astonished. It was a beautiful shiny black off-shoulder dress, perfectly suitable for her body from none other than Varun.

Reenu was on cloud 9. She could not believe all this and while she was still in a dilemma, her phone beeped. It was a message from Varun saying “I hope u got the gift, I will be there by 9.”.

Reading the message Reenu jumped on her sofa; it was like a dream come true.

Without wasting a single minute, Reenu went to take bath.

It was 8 pm and Reenu was almost ready. While putting on mascara, she was still confused about which shade of lipstick to apply. It was her first date with her dream man and she didn’t want to leave any stone left unturned. She finally settled for the red one which added stars to her smile.

Sharp @ 9:00 pm, her doorbell rang. She was feeling too shy and it took her great courage to open the door. Varun was finally there with flowers in his hand and Reenu was too shy to face him.

“You are looking gorgeous, Reenu… I am obliged that you are coming for dinner with me”, Varun expressed himself handing over the bouquet to her.

Once again Reenu had nothing to say and she just smiled.

They both went downstairs and Varun opened the door of his car for Reenu to get in. Reenu had never ever felt so special before.

They reached their destination in 30 odd minutes. Varun had made great arrangements for their first date with their table along the beachside. The red and white balloons, the pink roses, and the scented candle were more than enough for Reenu to believe that dreams do come true.

Varun pulled out the chair for Reenu and they both finally settled down. Reenu looked into his eyes and kept drowning.

The back ground music played… “पल पल दिल के पास तुम रहते हो…”
